About Laura Print E-mail

Laura D. Hering studied fine art at the Art Academy of Cincinnati where she was awarded the faculty scholarship in 1991 and 1992. Her primary focus was in printmaking.

Laura Hering became acquainted with Asian art gilding techniques while studying with decorative artist Sue Noble. There she learned traditional techniques and their applications upon surfaces.

She began to combine her fine art studies with these new materials and techniques, developing them into her own style. Some of these techniques use acid, floating it over the leaf and allowing it to change the composition and color of the leaf. The acid also causes the gold leaf to become unattached from the surface for a small period of time so it can be moved and manipulated.
